| The curtain opens on 'Antigone', the Chorus standing on the left. Creon is sitting in his armchair in deep thought and his young page is at his feet. Hémon and Ismène are reading a newspaper behind them. The three guards are playing cards, not paying any attention to the tragedy that is unraveling. Antigone sits alone center right. Queen Eurydice (Mabel Frithiof) is knitting which she will go on doing throughout the play, until it is her turn to go to her room and die. The nurse (Jullan Kindahl) is holding the yarn for the queen. | |
